The power of marketing public relation: in context of which is more effective PR or advertising.

     Marketing is the heart of corporate sector, it results in the main motive of profit earning. there are many marketing methods; namely advertising , positioning , direct marketing, guerrilla marketing, relationship marketing and viral marketing . From all these methods one can achieve its companies goal. but a big question arises in mind that which is more important for marketing - is it PR or is it advertising? First let us understand what is PR-
     Public Relations is distinctive management function which helps establish and maintain mutual lines of communication , understanding acceptance and cooperation between an organisation and its publics; involves the management of problems or issues , helps management keep abreast of and effectively utilize change, serving as an early warning system to help anticipate trends, and uses research and sound and ethical communication as its principal tools.
     where as advertising is the promotion of companies products and services carried out primarily to drive sales of products and services but also to build a brand identity. It also communicates changes , and new products and/ or services to the consumers. advertising has become an essential element of the corporate world and hence the allot a considerable amount of revenues as their advertising budget. the main motive of advertising is to -

  • Increasing the sales
  • Communicating a change in the existing product line
  • Creating and also maintaining a brand image
  • Introduction of a new product or service
  • increasing the buzz value of the brand or company
But be it advertising or marketing, is incomplete without Public Relations. because it is the relation between public and the organisation which is the base of marketing and it also leads to profit making, and so advertising and marketing both are a tool of Public Relations.without it marketing and advertising both are baseless.
